Google will more or less kill app sideloading next year on most of the newer phones.
I’m developing an open source android app, it has a handful of users, I’m not sure yet what it will practically mean for a dev like me, but I’m not a fan. Maybe they will pull a fast one like A$$le and you will need a yearly fee to be able to keep signing your apps.
I hope I can keep working on the app, but I didn’t want to deal with the play store, because they were pulling legit open source apps from the store without any explanation all the time. I can imagine that this can happen now to anyone with all their automated systems, where you can’t talk to a human, unless you are really big.
I’m writing here because I think there are some people here who work at google… Maybe there’s hope?
