I’ve been there. But wasn’t much active. Seeing all Tech shifting there I might start to become active again.

FWIW, I’m not on BlueSky but I’m on Mastodon here:

In general, I’m trying to retreat for general-purpose social media and microblogs, and into specialized niche communities (like this forum and local Discord servers). I think it’s healthier.

As always, I have FOMO about BlueSky (as I had before with other contenders) but frankly, I’m not planning to join at the moment. I’m glad that a healthier alternative to Twitter exists that’s still very Twitter-like and accessible to non-geeks, but I also fear it’s only a temporary breather.[1]

Anyway, I hope to see more interoperability between BlueSky and Mastodon in the future,[2] so maybe we can all microblog wherever we want, and follow each other anyway.

  1. BlueSky (unlike Mastodon or this forum) has a bunch of venture capital money in it, and so there’s reason to believe it won’t stay the way it is forever. The technical term is “enshittification” (coined by Cory Doctorow) and it’s when tech platforms start great for the user, then they achieve network effect, and then they slowly get worse and worse because “better for the user” often becomes “worse for the stakeholders”. ↩︎

  2. Right now there’s just a clunky community “bridge”, and apparently, the BlueSky team recently broke it (unwittingly). ↩︎

Very late to the party here is mine

And I am still on X x.com

P.S. I am a Java backend developer that got a bit bored after 20 years in Java ;).

Love Flutter and but Dart even more , thats the only language where I saw the beauty and the art of the code again! Currently working as consultant on automotive app development with flutter.
