What is the best way to work with the Flutter community?
Hi,
What makes you say that? The forum is still pretty new but seems to have a fair amount of activity. I find the better the question the better the answer.
and just a reminder, that this is just one of many places that flutter lives. this isn’t even an official forum.
Flutter.dev brought me here and calls it THE Flutter Forum. They list Discord as well, but that also seems pretty dead.
Maybe it’s because of AI that devs just don’t discuss on these platforms anymore, although AI is still pretty bad when it comes to Flutter. Maybe because there is not enough data out there.
Too bad, because I just started with Flutter and it’s a lot of trouble.
I suggest sorting by ‘Latest’ instead
How active should it be? IMO the slower pace of forums compared to real time channels is part of what makes them valuable, I think you tend to see more thoughtful responses.
Go to reddit then, where every day there are at least 20 news posts for you.
5 about AI.
5 about what is better, flutter or react
5 about the same thing of yesterday
5 about complaining why the hell they were banned from there without saying nothing wrong (oh, wait, those you couldn’t see because you were shadow banned).
As mentioned above this is a new Forum. You will find that recently the Flutter Community leaders have started referring people to this Forum. This is being done on Humpday Q&A and other livestreams. We provided links to this forum to the Flutter team and that would be why they’re sharing it.
This Forum is setup in a way that a true forum should be. Having Categories, chats, questions and conversations organized without having long text chains.
If you’re not enough seeing traffic here then help us by sharing it with others. Help the community here grow.
There are few places where I tend to interact with flutter community, and sometimes even with the flutter team:
- flutter hackers discord, the one where work is being discussed, not the general one
- this forum; there are sometimes posts that get some traction, you can find some of the active community members and flutter/dart team folks here
- reddit, I rarely visit anymore
- twitter which is significantly less active
- bluesky which had a burst of activity but now is very quiet in my bubble
- few closed communities (email, slack)
For me the most important way to interact with other community members is attending conferences and meetups above any online activity.
